JDA® Software Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS), The
Supply Chain Company®, today announced that its managed services
offerings continue to gain momentum with organizations around the
world. JDA customers such as Lenovo and Sun Products, are using JDA
Managed Services to help achieve rapid deployment, reduce IT
infrastructure investments, eliminate risk and improve total cost
of ownership, all delivered via the JDA® Private Cloud.
Many JDA customers are achieving their goals by leveraging the
JDA Implementation Lab for the rapid provisioning of
implementation, testing and development environments; a full
spectrum of hardware and software administration services; and
operation and optimization services to gain maximum efficiencies
from their JDA solution.
“JDA grew its managed services business by 112 percent in the
last 12 months,” said Joseph King, global vice president,
managed services, JDA Software. “We are adding more than 10
managed services customers a quarter and are one of the fastest
growing areas within the JDA.”
Fast value, improved risk management and security with JDA
Implementation Lab
To ensure project success, each Implementation Lab customer is
assigned a JDA service delivery manager to leverage best practices
and closely coordinate with JDA consulting, development and support
teams.
“We are very sophisticated in our ability to rapidly create
environments for our customers using our Implementation Lab
technology,” said King. “The ability to deploy any JDA solution in
the Implementation Lab gives customers immediate benefit – allowing
projects to start in hours and days instead of weeks and
months.”
Implementation Lab projects are deployed by JDA, which supplies
the required data center, certified software configuration,
operating system, database and mid-tier software. Customer
implementation, testing and development efforts can be up and
running in days with fewer risks and lower capital outlays. The JDA
Managed Services team monitors customer systems to ensure smooth
project deployment, early issue identification and problem
resolution to better manage risk by avoiding project delays. The
Implementation Lab’s 24x7 operation means that solution
availability, performance and security are all managed by JDA.
Project delivery on time and on budget
By leveraging JDA Managed Services, organizations are achieving
rapid time to market, reduced risks, lower costs, and improved
performance, unlocking greater value from their software
investments.
Sun Products Corporation, a leading North American fabric
household care products company, used JDA Managed Services for the
installation and ongoing management of several JDA supply chain
optimization solutions. The company successfully met a five-month
IT transition deadline on time and on budget. JDA Managed Services
provided the manufacturer with a scalable infrastructure to support
its complex, multi-modal global network.
“We decided that a managed services approach was the best choice
for handling our looming deadline and ongoing day-to-day IT
requirements,” said Joe Manco, director, IT business applications,
Sun Products. “It would enable us to stay focused on our core
business strengths while we trusted our vendors to do the
same.”
Rapid time to value
Lenovo, a leading global personal computing and consumer
electronics company, has used JDA Managed Services to ramp up
worldwide e-commerce capabilities for its configure-to-order and
standard product offerings to both B2B and B2C segments.
“We achieved a go-live within four months of launching the
program and have done 17 releases since our first go-live
increasing our scope and scale worldwide,” said Ajit Sividasan,
vice president and general manager global web sales and marketing.
“As a result of our work together, the JDA Managed Services team
has become an integral part of the Lenovo web sales and marketing
organization.”
Meeting the challenge with managed services
According to one industry analyst, the time is right for an
increased focus on managed services for supply chain
applications.
“When asked about the top barriers that companies face towards
implementing supply chain planning technologies, the answers are
along expected lines ‒ users being comfortable with spreadsheets
(42 percent), lack of skilled resources (38 percent), and
applications are too expensive (33 percent),” said Narayanan
Viswanathan, vice president and principle analyst, Supply Chain
Management, Aberdeen Group. “Managed services can help resolve two
of these three challenges. By utilizing skilled resources who are
specialized in specific areas such as optimization, reporting,
database management, statistical forecasting, etc. in a managed
services environment, the line of business users can focus their
efforts on problem resolution and metrics improvement. By adopting
a subscription based approach where instead of capital asset
investment, operating expense related investments are made, the
total cost of ownership can be reduced. If an offshore based
approach is utilized, then the costs can be further lowered.”
Growing partner support
JDA Managed Services is supported by a strong and growing
partner network, including Layered Tech and Thales Information
Systems. Layered Tech, a leading global provider of
compliance-based managed hosting, dedicated hosting and on-demand
cloud computing services, is JDA’s primary data center and private
cloud provider who recently helped consolidate 1 million users from
over 193 countries onto the JDA Private Cloud, a single hosted
cloud environment. The JDA Private Cloud provides non-intrusive
supply chain planning tools and analytics to leverage the benefits
of supply chain planning applications without the traditional
investment. Thales Information Systems, a global technology leader
