Rentech, Inc. (NYSE AMEX: RTK) is pleased to announce that it has been selected for the second consecutive year as one of the “50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy” by Biofuels Digest, the publisher of the most widely-read biofuels daily newsletter in the world.

Rentech’s position advanced in rank from number 38 to number 25 from over 1000 eligible energy companies worldwide, reflecting Rentech’s advancements in bioenergy.

Commenting on the award, D. Hunt Ramsbottom, Rentech President and CEO, said, “We are honored to be recognized by the industry for our demonstrated renewable synthetic fuels and power technologies and the high value renewable products they produce.” Mr. Ramsbottom continued, “This award reinforces Rentech’s leadership position within the bioenergy industry. The renewable fuels and power projects we are developing will play an important role in our world’s clean energy future.”

Biofuels Digest editor Jim Lane stated, “For the second year in a row, the voters have been getting more excited about Rentech. This year, they've leapfrogged a lot of great companies in reaching #25 in the world, out of more than 1,000 eligible companies. Drop-in renewable fuels have been big all year, and Rentech continues to be a leader in that evolving story."

Rentech’s suite of technologies includes patented and proprietary biomass gasification, syngas clean-up and Fischer-Tropsch technologies. The Company has a worldwide alliance with UOP, a Honeywell Company, for syngas conditioning and product upgrading.

Rentech is developing renewable energy projects and pursuing licensing opportunities for its technologies for projects that are anticipated to produce certified renewable diesel and jet fuels and electric power. Its proposed Rialto Renewable Energy Center (Rialto Project) is anticipated to create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction and operations phases, and is designed to produce approximately 640 barrels per day of renewable synthetic fuels, primarily RenDiesel® fuel, and approximately 35 MW of renewable electric power (RenPowerTM) from urban green waste diverted from landfills. Both of these products will have low carbon footprints when compared to conventional fuels and power and help California reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, consistent with the State’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard and Renewable Portfolio Standard.

Biofuels Digest is the world’s most-widely read biofuels daily, reaching a total of 75,000 industry leaders, policymakers, journalists, producers and suppliers in over 200 countries.
