New Handsets, Softphone Application and Speech-Recognition
Integration Capabilities on Display at Healthcare's Largest IT
Conference and Exhibition NEW ORLEANS, HIMSS ANNUAL CONFERENCE
& EXHIBITION, Feb. 26, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
SpectraLink Corp. (NASDAQ:SLNK), the leader in workplace wireless
telephony, continues to demonstrate its commitment to the
healthcare industry at this year's HIMSS Conference and Exhibition.
SpectraLink has been selling into healthcare organizations since
the early 1990s and has deployed more wireless telephone systems in
hospitals than any other vendor. At HIMSS, SpectraLink is
exhibiting its upgraded handset portfolio and recently-announced
softphone application for third-party devices, and demonstrating
enhanced features and functions through integration with
speech-recognition solutions. In addition, SpectraLink products are
featured in various technology and channel partners' booths at this
year's show. (Logo:

month, SpectraLink introduced the NetLink 8000 Series Wireless
Telephones, which enhance SpectraLink's market-leading Wi-Fi
telephony platform as the industry's first commercially available
handsets supporting the 802.11a/b/g standards and offering the
longest battery life of any enterprise Wi-Fi telephone. Additional
enhancements include a larger alphanumeric display and a slim,
lightweight, yet robust design that meets the stringent durability
and reliability requirements of healthcare users. Additionally,
SpectraLink announced its NetLink Softphone (NetLink SP)
application, which allows voice-enabled mobile devices to function
as full-featured business telephones that integrate with enterprise
telephone systems. NetLink SP operates as a thin client, offering
optimized performance both over the wireless LAN and on the
handheld device. Both the NetLink 8000 Series handsets and NetLink
SP are on display at the company's booth (no. 2721). Also on
display is a demonstration of voice dialing capabilities in
conjunction with speech-recognition solution providers such as
Parlance and XTEND Communications. By utilizing a third-party,
speech-recognition application, voice dialing is available with
single-button access on SpectraLink wireless handsets. The
application can also be leveraged for use from any hospital
telephone and for outside callers. Support for speech-recognition
applications is another example of SpectraLink's emphasis on
integrating with healthcare enterprise networks and systems to
further increase the value and capabilities of our wireless
solutions. SpectraLink handsets also support integration with
third-party messaging applications such as nurse call and patient
monitoring systems. "Healthcare continues to be a very important
and strategic market for us," said John Elms, SpectraLink president
and CEO. "As our customers' needs evolve, we work with them to
design product features and capabilities that will meet those
needs. Our new products and technology integrations demonstrate our
commitment to helping them improve accessibility and productivity
for caregivers, thereby improving patient satisfaction and
ultimately the bottom line." In addition to its own booth (no.
2721), SpectraLink products are also featured with the following
