Relationship Seen as a Foundation for Services Offering in Europe
DALLAS, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Somera Communications
(NASDAQ:SMRA), a global provider of telecommunications asset
management services, today announced that one of the largest
wireless carriers in Europe has established Somera as its primary
vendor for procuring quality refurbished network equipment. Somera
has already booked more than $750,000 in brokerage revenue during
the third quarter of 2005 with this carrier and expects this
relationship to provide a consistent stream of brokerage
transactions in future quarters. "We are very pleased to establish
this new relationship, as it represents the first significant
integration of refurbished telecom equipment in this particular
wireless carrier's network," said David Heard, CEO of Somera.
"Their selection of Somera as the primary vendor for refurbished
equipment is the result of our global reach, financial resources,
and customer service that combine to produce significant value for
our customers. We have also had discussions with this carrier
regarding RecoveryPLUS(TM) and our other asset management services
and expect our relationship with them to grow and expand," said Mr.
Heard. "We believe this agreement in the European market is
representative of positive trends that we expect to see throughout
our business in the region," stated Peter Lyne, EMEA Managing
Director of Somera. "We believe that Europe's economic environment,
reporting requirements, and increasing 'green' reuse legislation
combine with the clear financial benefits Somera offers to network
operators to set the stage in Europe for services such as
RecoveryPLUS to have a positive impact." About Somera Somera
launched its family of Lifecycle Management Services in 2004 in
response to an industry-wide need for telecom asset management to
optimize return on assets. Somera's product offerings enable
service providers to generate greater value from legacy assets in
the form of lower operating costs, longer product life, higher
productivity, and real measurable capital savings. With Somera
LifecyclePLUS, customers can outsource elements of network
operations, logistics, and technical service. Somera
RecoveryPLUS(TM) is a program approach to deliver documented
savings and expense relief by recovering hidden value in current
underutilized assets and inventories. Somera RepairPLUS provides
comprehensive support for wireless, wireline, and data products at
significant savings and reduced cycle times. These services are in
addition to Somera's traditional Brokerage business that provides
immediate availability of quality, warranted new and refurbished
equipment at savings of 25 to 60%. Founded in 1995, Somera has
developed an impressive base of over 1,100 customers worldwide,
including the industry leaders from each segment of the
