Offers Profit Planning and Interest-Rate Risk Management Software
for M&I's Financial Institution Client Base SCHAUMBURG, Ill.,
Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Marshall & Ilsley Corporation (M&I)
announced it has partnered with Plansmith Corporation for its
proprietary asset liability management (ALM) software, Compass(TM).
Through this initiative, M&I utilizes Plansmith's Compass
software to assist financial institutions in their profit planning
and interest-rate risk management. M&I began offering a
complete planning assistance program to financial institutions in
the fall of 2004. "Compass has surpassed our expectations with
regard to processing and conversions," said Pat Dorn, vice
president, investment division, M&I. "When searching for a
partner, we looked for a company that complemented the breadth of
our services. Compass is the right product for the banks we are
servicing." Compass software is designed to support profit
planning, budgeting, performance tracking and interest-rate risk
analysis while preparing extensive reports comparing alternative
actions and expected results. It offers a unique Bank Executive
Brief(TM) that includes information pertinent to CEOs and board
members, which can be produced in minutes via the Internet. Compass
can also generate immediate "what if" scenario results, enabling
banks to design programs to improve profitability and mitigate
risks. "Our software focuses on community banks that don't
necessarily have the resources to staff a full-time, in-house
treasurer and assists them from a strategic standpoint," stated
Dorn. "Compass allows us to build the bridge for community banks to
effectively manage interest-rate risk and achieve financial goals."
"We're very excited M&I has decided to partner with Plansmith
for its consulting program," said Craig Hartman, president and CEO
of Plansmith. "Through the combination of M&I's strategic
advise and Plansmith's Compass software, community banks will be
able to operate at a higher level of efficiency." About Plansmith
Corporation Since 1972, Plansmith Corporation (
http://www.plansmith.com/ or 800-323-3281) has been demonstrating
leadership in the financial simulation modeling industry.
Plansmith's applications offer objectivity, creativity and
experience to support clients' efforts in meeting competitive
challenges. It develops computer software to perform financial
analyses that foster communication and support planning activities
in financial institutions. Its flagship product, Compass, is an
interactive tool that allows clients to learn from the past,
understand the present and anticipate the future by maintaining
extensive databases that identify strengths and weaknesses. The
software can generate immediate "what if" feedback. A unique
component of Compass is its exclusive Bank Executive Brief that is
beneficial for board meetings and other executive needs because it
improves communication and understanding. Through the Internet and
in just seconds, users can point and click to view important
details and analyses for any area of the financial statements,
past, present and future. Color-coded arrows, trend graphs and flow
charts help visualize performance opportunities as well as problem
areas. This at-a-glance position and trend approach is critical to
better understanding. The Schaumburg, Ill.-based company's highly
participative approach in the installation process ensures a
successful implementation of its software applications. About
