MARIFIL MINES LTD. (TSX VENTURE:MFM) ("Marifil" or "the Company") announces that
its partner, Southern Copper ("SC"), has sent it a progress report on SC's work
on the Cerro Samenta porphyry copper project in Salta Province.


SC reports that its environmental report (necessary prior to drilling) has been
approved by the Mining Secretary of Salta Province. Meanwhile SC has been
carrying out geologic mapping at a scale of 1:25,000, and has collected and
analyzed 338 rock samples.


SC further reports that it will be building access roads and drill pads during
the coming months.
