SILVERMEX RESOURCES LTD. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:SMR) is pleased to
announce the appointment of Robert Fraser, M.Sc., P.Geo as its Vice President,
Exploration. Mr. Fraser has over 35 years experience in applying geological and
managerial skills in the field of mineral exploration and corporate management
in a variety of geological and geographical environments throughout North,
Central and South America, most recently as the Exploration Manager for Hecla
Mining Company.


Mr. Fraser will be responsible for the ongoing exploration initiatives at
Silvermex's projects in Mexico. Mr. Fraser graduated with a Hon's B.Sc. in
Geology and an M.Sc. in Mineral Exploration from Queen's University at Kingston.
Mr. Fraser was with Noranda and associated companies for over 25 years with
positions of increasing responsibility in exploration management. During this
period Mr. Fraser was directly responsible for the discovery of the Lac Troilus
Au-Cu Mine in Northern Quebec which ultimately produced over 2,000,000 ounces of
gold. More recently Mr. Fraser was the Exploration Manager for Hecla Mining
Company in both Venezuela and Canada.


The Board of Directors of Silvermex welcomes Mr. Fraser to the Silvermex team
and to the position of Vice President Exploration. Duane Nelson comments, "Mr.
