Mr. DiEnna received the 'Legend in Energy' Award from the Department of Energy and the Association of Energy Engineers in the United States in 2010. He is the Executive Director & Founder of the Geothermal National & International Initiative (GEO-NII), and has over forty years combined experience in the electric utility industry and the renewable energy industry. His expertise in the field of 'renewables' is internationally acknowledged by government officials, trade allies and all major market segment associations in the promotion of sustainable technologies. Mr. DiEnna is an active participant with the US Commerce Department assisting them with their negotiations of an environmental goods agreement within the World Trade Organization that would liberalize tariffs on climate change addressing products and services. Acting for the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium, a group formed by the Clinton Administration, Mr. DiEnna was responsible for the development and implementation of the Federal Schools Initiative Program which promoted ground source energy technologies at the State Department of Education level. In 2007 he was appointed to the Asian Pacific Partnership (APP) on the Renewable Energy & Building Efficiency task forces and continues today working with them to promote the increased use of renewable technology in China, India and SE Asia/ASEANA. In 2006, Mr. DiEnna was appointed by the Secretary of Energy to serve as a member of the Federal Energy Management Advisory Committee (FEMAC), formed to advise the Department of Energy's Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) on defining strategy for meeting their mandates and objectives. He received the "Innovation in Training" award from the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association in 2000, and during the Gulf War Mr. DiEnna created, developed and implemented the H.E.A.R.T. (Helpful Energy Assistance Program for Reserve Troops) utility program for which he received a direct personal commendation from President George H. W. Bush.
