Air Berlin To Expand Executive Board Before Joining Oneworld

German airline Air Berlin PLC (AB1.XE) said Friday it plans to
increase the number of executive board members to four from three
ahead of its full membership in the oneworld alliance, planned for
the start of 2012.
MAIN FACTS:
-In future, the executive board will include Chief Executive
Officer Joachim Hunold, Chief Financial Officer Ulf Huettmeyer and
Chief Operating Officer Christoph Debus and a Chief Commercial
Officer, who is yet to be appointed.
-Joachim Hunold will take over as acting CCO with responsibility
for network and sales until the appointment.
-COO Debus will be responsible for integrating acquired airline
LTU and affiliated companies, and preparing information technology
system for the future cooperation with oneworld.
-Air Berlin has concluded an agreement to operate code share
flights with American Airlines and Finnair (FIA1S.HE), two core
oneworld Alliance members, in preparation for its membership next
year.
-Next up is a bilateral agreement with Iberia (IBLA.MC) and
British Airways (BAY.LN), which is acting as Air Berlin's alliance
sponsor.
