The U.K.'s Serious Fraud Office is still reviewing material
provided by Olympus Corp.'s (7733.TO) ousted Chief Executive
Michael Woodford over the Japanese camera maker's attempt to hide
investment losses, a spokeswoman for the organization said
Wednesday.
"We continue to review and evaluate the material that was
provided to us by Mr Woodford," a SFO spokeswoman said. Woodford
provided the information to the SFO on Oct. 17 and 19, she
added.
The spokeswoman declined to comment on media reports that the
SFO has formally opened an investigation into Olympus.
Olympus last week admitted it had covered up investment losses
from the 1990s and then tried to clean up its books with four
acquisitions totaling near $3 billion.
