Directors Statement

The company has not traded during the period and interest received on funds
held on deposit from which the dividend due to the preference shareholders
for the half year to 4 July 1998 was paid on 1 July 1998.

The directors have decided not to declare an interim dividend on the ordinary
shares.

The interim report will be sent to ordinary shareholders and made available to 
the public at the registered office of Geest PLC, Midgate House, Midgate,
Peterborough, PE1 1TN.
