Notification of Disclosable Interest under S198 of the Companies Act

Further to the notification of Kleinwort Benson Group Limited on behalf of
Dresdner Bank AG dated 21 November 2000, Kleinwort Benson Holdings, Inc.
("KBH"), hereby advises you, pursuant to the above Act, the DrKB Life Science
Partner, L.P. ("LSP") holds the 4,427,089 ordinary 5p shares of Pharmagene plc
(or 8.75% of the issued ordinary shares of Pharmagene plc) which were the
subject of the prior disclosure.

This announcement is made on behalf of LSP by KBH, (an indirect, wholly-owned
subsidiary of Kleinwort Benson Limited), as the General Partner of DrKB General
Life Science Partners, L.P. which, in turn, is the General Partner of LSP, both
Delaware Limited Partnerships.
