Key Appointment to Ensure Smooth Transition to Future CEO Position
FORT WORTH, Texas, May 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In a move that
brings added strength and experience to its leadership team, and
provides for succession for the chief executive officer position,
American Airlines Federal Credit Union today announced the
appointment of Angela K. Owens as President. Owens returns to AA
Credit Union from American Airlines, where she currently is the
airline's General Auditor. While previously with the AA Credit
Union, Owens served as Senior Vice President -- Community Relations
and Financial Services. In this role, Owens led the credit union's
Financial Services group, which employs licensed representatives to
provide financial planning and advising services to members. She
was also responsible for the credit union's business development,
credit counseling, and member special assistance efforts. "We are
excited to welcome Angie back to the Credit Union and the
tremendous experience she brings to our members," said Douglas
Herring, AA Credit Union chairman. "Angie's valuable background in
both the airline and credit union industries will help lead the
credit union to new levels of growth and service in the future."
Owens previously held leadership positions within the AMR
Corporation family, including Managing Director -- Corporate
Accounting for American Airlines and Managing Director -- Investor
Relations for Sabre. Prior to AMR, Owens was an Audit Manager with
Ernst & Young. Owens, a Certified Public Accountant, holds a
master of business administration degree from The University of
Texas at Arlington and a bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma
State University. AA Credit Union's current President and Chief
Executive Officer, John Tippets, will retain the title of Chief
Executive Officer. Upon Owens joining the credit union late this
summer, they will work closely together to ensure a smooth and
successful transition of leadership upon Tippets' future
