AXIS-SHIELD ANNOUNCES INVOLVEMENT IN MAJOR SCOTTISH BIOSENSOR PROGRAMME

Dundee 29 November 2005: Axis-Shield plc (LSE: ASD) announces that it is part of
a major #10 million project revealed today by ITI Techmedia in Glasgow, along
with three other organisations. ITI Techmedia is one of three institutes set up
by Scottish Enterprise to develop market-driven intellectual property for the
benefit of the Scottish economy. In this case the four and a half year programme
aims to develop a Biosensor platform to facilitate both diagnosis and treatment
of infectious diseases. The system is intended to offer improved patient
management by combining multi-parameter diagnostic and patient data with
sophisticated information technology to promote optimal therapeutic solutions
for individual patients. It should also reduce the complexity and cost of
disease diagnosis and promote more effective patient monitoring.



Svein Lien, Axis-Shield Chief Executive Officer commented: "Involvement in this
collaborative ITI programme between academia and industry gives us access to
cutting edge science which we hope will lead to the development of a
revolutionary new system likely to represent a significant step forward in
diagnostic technology and superior patient management. This project takes the

combined with diagnostics to provide tailored and personalised treatments,
