TRADING STATEMENT AND CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT


Shareholders of Brait are advised that the Company expects both earnings per
share and headline earnings per share for the six-month period ending 30
September 2004 to be substantially above earnings per share and headline
earnings per share for the six-month period ended

30 September 2003. In terms of the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa Listings
Requirements, "substantially" is defined as an increase or decrease equal to or
greater than 30%.

Further details will be provided when Brait publishes the results for the
six-month period ending 30 September 2004, which is anticipated to be on or
about 4 November 2004.

Cautionary announcement

As a result of the above and due to the fact that the earnings estimate has not
been reviewed or reported on by the Company's auditors, shareholders  are
advised to exercise caution when dealing in the Company's securities until the
publication of the Company's results for the six-month period ending 30
September 2004.
