To install mobile technology at 70 UPN depots
Belgravium Technologies plc ("Belgravium" or "the Group"),
(AIM:BVM) provider of enterprise mobile computing solutions to the
warehousing and logistics markets is pleased to announce that it
has been selected to install mobile scanning equipment across all
70 distribution depots for UPN, a leading UK and European pallet
freight delivery service.
The move follows a six-month trial period during which the
system was fully tested and during which time Belgravium worked
with UPN to adapt the operating software for optimal performance
using the handheld scanning equipment to track and update a central
web-based system in real time of the movements of pallets in and
out of the depots using the new Boston 8550 mobile computers.
The new system will be rolled out across all UPN depots over the
next six months and expected to become fully operational by the mid
2013. Once fully implemented, UPN customers will have the benefit
of on-line access to a detailed summary of their freight and the
ability to track it through the network, from point of collection
to delivery point.
Mark Hardy, Managing Director at Belgravium, said today, "I am
delighted that UPN has chosen to work with us on these new systems.
The pilot scheme ran very well and has allowed UPN and its depot to
prove the value the new systems, before making the investment
decision. Our success in the pallet network sector has been
underlined with the award of this contract. Our knowledge of the
sector is growing and we have now gained a tangible track record.
We look forward to working more with UPN and helping them to manage
business growth. The palletised freight sector is very buoyant and
the networking sector is growing fast, so it is an attractive
sector for us to work in."
Gary Flockhart, IT Manager at UPN, added, We partnered with
Belgravium in the past, when we relocated our hub and implemented a
new hub scanning system. Our experience was positive, so it makes
sense to look at how else their systems could benefit our business.
Following the pilot scheme, it is become clear that this new mobile
technology will drive out errors and help us maintain our quality
levels, whilst removing more and more paper from the network.
Belgravium provide the equipment and the 24/7 support that our
depots require in the field. We operate mission critical systems,
so it is vital that our partners deliver the levels of support we
will require."
