CHLORIDE GROUP PLC

Chloride Group PLC ("Chloride") received notification after close of business
on 16th July 1998 under Section 198 to 202 of the Companies Act 1985 that the
following companies and person - whose interests had previously been disclosed
on 24th April 1998 in a total of 29,334,923 Chloride ordinary shares,
representing 12.05 per cent of Chloride's issued ordinary share capital - now
had disclosable interests in respect of a total of 29,173,023 ordinary shares
of 25p each in Chloride, representing 11.98 per cent of Chloride's issued
ordinary share capital:

(i)       FMR Corp, Fidelity International Limited and their direct and
indirect subsidiaries including Fidelity Management & Research Company, 
investment manager for US mutual funds, and Fidelity Investment Services 
Ltd., investment managers for various non-US investment companies and 
institutional clients.

(ii)       Mr Edward C Johnson 3d, principal shareholder and Chairman of FMR
Corp. and Fidelity International Limited.

The notification states that:

-       The notifiable interests include interests held on behalf of
authorised unit trust schemes in the UK.

-       Nothing therein should be taken to indicate that the various companies
and person named in (i) and (ii) above act as a group or in concert in respect
of the disclosed interests.

-       The disclosable interests arise under Section 208(4)(b) or 203 of the
Companies Act 1985.
