WADI ALLAQI SEIGA DRILLING RESULTS
RC drilling at Seiga in Wadi Allaqi returns significant gold intersections
* Hole CRC012 28m @ 4.18g/t Au from 28m

INITIAL DRILLING PROGRAMME CONFIRMS THE EXTENSION AT DEPTH OF THE HIGHLY
ENCOURAGING SURFACE GOLD RESULTS
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Gippsland (ASX & AIM: GIP) today announces that RC drilling of the Company's
Egyptian Seiga prospect in Wadi Allaqi completed during April 2006 has confirmed
the high-grade gold results obtained during previous surface sampling work.
Assay results for 26 of the 45 holes completed to date have been received. The
4m composite samples were analysed by Genalysis Laboratory Services in Perth.
Samples greater than 1g/t Au were re-analysed by Fire Assay (Appendix A).
Six of the holes tested the ancient Seiga workings with the best results
obtained in holes CRC012 & CRC013.
Hole CRC012 was drilled below the centre of the ancient workings and intersected
28m at 4.18g/t Au between 28-56m. Hole CRC006 which was drilled from the
opposite direction and slightly to the north intersected the mineralisation
yielding 12m at 1.22g/t Au between 60-72m.
Hole CRC013 drilled at the northern end of the ancient workings intersected 24m
at 5.21g/t Au between 48-72m. This zone is thought to correspond with the high
grade mineralisation (15.5m at 9.73g/t Au) recorded in surface profile CP6.
Hole CRC011 which was drilled 20m to the south of CRC012 intersected a zone of
low grade mineralisation (12m at 0.48g/t Au) with associated cavities that may
represent old stopes. Hole CRC004 drilled from the opposite direction
intersected 4m at 4.34g/t Au and 4m at 2.51g/t Au in the expected position of
the mineralisation.
The remaining 20 holes were drilled to test the along strike extensions to the
ancient workings and sand covered areas adjacent to the old workings. CRC015
intersected 12m at 1.32g/t Au 230m along strike to the north of the old
workings. The area is moderately rugged and site access work is being undertaken
to prepare drill pads in readiness for the next round of drilling.
Hole CRC003 intersected 4m at 45.29g/t Au in the top sample from 0-4m and is
thought to represent surface contamination from old surface mining activity.
The drilling supports the geological observation that the deposit worked by the
ancients plunges moderately to the north.
GEOLOGICAL GRAPHICS associated with these Seiga drilling results may be viewed
in the INVESTOR RELATIONS section of the Gippsland website.
UM SHASHOBA
Drilling is currently underway at Um Shashoba located 6km to the south-east of
Seiga.
ON-GOING DRILLING PROGRAMME
Following the completion of the preliminary drilling at Um Shashoba, progressive
drilling will be undertaken at the exploration tenements covering Um Tiur,
Haimur, Um Garayat, Nile valley Blocks A & E where specific drill targets have
been identified.
Gippsland Executive Chairman Jack Telford stated "The results of this first pass
drilling, the first ever drilling programme undertaken in the historic gold
producing Wadi Allaqi region, are very good as they have confirmed the extension
at depth of the highly encouraging surface trenching gold results announced
during April 2006. The Directors are confident that the on-going drilling
programme will build on the excellent results achieved to date."
