NEWMARKET INVESTMENTS PLC("NEWMARKET" OR THE "COMPANY")

RESULTS OF GENERAL MEETING AND PLACING AND OPEN OFFER

On 20 February 2008, Newmarket announced details of a Placing and Open Offer of
131,500,000 New Ordinary Shares at 1 penny per share to raise �1,315,000
(approximately �775,000, net of expenses).

The Board of Newmarket Investments plc announces that, at the General Meeting
held earlier today, all the Resolutions which were set out in the Notice of
General Meeting included in the AIM Admission Document in relation to the
Proposals dated 20 February 2008 (the Admission Document) were duly passed.

The Board of Newmarket further announces that by 11.00 a.m. on 14 March 2008,
being the latest time for receipt of application forms and payment in full
under the Open Offer, valid applications had been received from Qualifying
Shareholders in respect of a total of 5,703,829 New Ordinary Shares offered
under the Open Offer, including 697,215 New Ordinary Shares the subject of
irrevocable commitments to accept the Open Offer. This represents approximately
12.3 per cent. of the 46,375,000 New Ordinary Shares offered under the Open
Offer.

The 40,671,171 New Ordinary Shares not applied for by Qualifying Shareholders
under the Open Offer will be taken up pursuant to the Placing and Open Offer
Agreement.

The New Ordinary Shares to be issued under the Placing and Open Offer will rank
pari passu with the existing Ordinary Shares in all respects.

The Placing and Open Offer remain conditional upon, inter alia, admission of
the New Ordinary Shares to trading on AIM. Application has been made to the
London Stock Exchange for the 233,909,100 New Ordinary Shares issued pursuant
to the Proposals to be admitted to trading on AIM and it is expected that
Admission will become effective and dealings in the New Ordinary Shares will
commence on 18 March 2008.

Terms defined in the Admission Document have the same meaning in this
announcement.
