ORIEL RESOURCES PLC (the "Company")

SUBSTANTIAL SHAREHOLDING

5 April 2004

In accordance with section 198 of the Companies Act 1985 (the "Act"), the
Company received notification on 31 March 2004 from Credit Suisse First Boston
Equities Limited ("CFSB") that on 29 March 2004, CSFB acquired an interest in a
further 315,250 shares. As a result, CFSB has an interest in 5,090,337 shares,
representing 3.17% of the total issued share capital of the Company.

The notification advised the Company that CFSB is a member of the Credit Suisse
First Boson group of companies. Those group companies, which are direct or
indirect holding companies of CFSB, are under the terms of section 203 ofthe
Act, each interested by attribution in any shares in which CFSB is interested.
