                        ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING STATEMENT

                  Water shortage boosts demand for water butts



Straight plc (''Straight'' or "the Company") is pleased to announce its Annual
General Meeting (''AGM'') held today.


At the AGM, James Newman, Chairman of Straight, made the following statement to
shareholders:


"I am pleased to report that trading in the first half of the year has so far
been good and is in line with the Board's expectations.


"The water shortage in the south of England has created an unprecedented demand
for the Company's water butt product range and new tooling has recently been
commissioned to increase production capacity to satisfy customer demand.


"The newly-acquired 'Cloudburst' garden products division has made good progress
and has opened up new markets for a number of the Company's other products."


"I am also pleased to announce that the Company has become one of the preferred
suppliers for the Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation, representing a
consortium of local authorities. This has already yielded orders for more than
140,000 wheeled bins in the first few months of the contract. "
