               ACQUISITION OF BXP INTERESTS

United Energy plc announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, AmBrit Energy
Corp ("AmBrit") has acquired four operated oil wells in three fields in the
Upper Texas Gulf Coast region from BXP Oil Company and Genesis Acquisition
Partners for a cash consideration of $US 1.55 million.

The properties include:

A 100% working interest in the Gray 1 well and a 91.65% working interest in
the Hurta1 wells in the Needville Field, Fort Bend County, Texas which
currently produce a total of 60 bopd.

A 100% working interest in the Keeran C-1 oil well and the Keeran C-2 water
disposal well in the Kentucky Mott Field, Victoria County, Texas.  The Keeran
C-1 currently produces over 20 bopd plus 45 mcfpd.

A 99% working interest in the Rorick 1 well in the Delhi North Field, Harris
County, Texas, which currently produces 20 bopd.

The acquisition is projected to add 70 boepd of net production with the
potential to increase this to over 100 boepd in early 1998 with the
recompletion of one behind pipe zone.  Net proved reserves are estimated at
over 300 mboe.

The acquisition provides a low well count opportunity to add over 100 boe to
AmBrit's production base with additional enhancement and upside potential.
