Wireless Age Finalizes Land Deal

Wireless Age Communications, Inc. (PINK SHEETS: WLSA) ("Wireless
Age" or "the Company") announced today that it has been granted a
forty hectare property from a local "Regie Inter-municipal" north
of Quebec City, for the purpose of constructing a 200 ton per day
waste-to-energy facility to be developed by its subsidiary Sunbay
Energy Corp.
The facility will be designed to gasify refuse derived fuel
(RDF), a by-product of municipal solid waste (MSW).
While the gasification unit will be supplied by an established
manufacturer with a track record in the gasification of RDF, the
unit will be equipped with an innovative French plasma torch
technology. The torch assembly is expected to be manufactured in
Canada at Fanotech with manufacturing facilities in Bracebridge and
Huntsville, Ontario, although the torch itself would be supplied by
a French Company.
The "turbo torch" technology is distinct from other plasma torch
waste-to-energy applications in that it is not used as a primary
source of heat for the gasification process, but rather to "clean"
the gas. The resultant "syngas" may then be uses in a standard
landfill gas engine. A second torch is used to vitrify the ash.
The French government in conjunction with the private sector has
funded research related to both of these applications over the past
decades. The gas cleaning application is well tested in several
industrial applications, while the vitrification technology is used
extensively to treat nuclear waste, as well as to vitrify asbestos
and other solid residues.
The site is contiguous to a large lumber mill, a landfill which
has the potential to supply methane, as well as transmission lines.
The facility is expected to supply thermal energy to the lumber
mill and electric power to third party customers. The site will
also accommodate several other "green industry" activities which
will use any surplus thermal energy not supplied to the lumber
mill. Several potential users have already expressed interest.
Albert Pope, President and CEO of Sunbay Energy stated, "We are
gratified with the co-operation and attention offered by the Quebec
authorities. All channels have been cleared to allow us to move
forward with all the necessary arrangements, which we will proceed
to finalize in the coming weeks. We expect to present a definitive
proposal to the authorities by the beginning of September."
