BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Ecology & Environment, Inc. is continuing to provide support to various government agencies for response and cleanup efforts. Our recent work includes: * For the Louisiana State Government, E & E mobilized an emergency management team to support the statewide housing recovery program and donated-goods management systems of the joint federal and state responses as well as providing liaisons for the tracking and locating of temporary and transitional housing for displaced residents. The contract is valued at a minimum of $600,000. * As part of a $3-million task order, USACE initially tasked E & E to mobilize over 30 personnel to support EPA Region 6 by providing quick- reaction, on-site hazardous waste assessment and management in severely damaged Plaquemines, Jefferson, and Terrebonne Parishes, Louisiana. E & E was subsequently awarded a $900,000 task order to provide similar support in Vermillion and Iberia Parishes in Response to Hurricane Rita. E & E is currently providing up to 46 personnel to support these efforts. The Company is currently in negotiations for a $2.8 million modification to these two task orders. * For the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, we are providing emergency shutdown/start-up support at project sites contaminated with hazardous waste and dry-cleaning solvents during periods of hurricane activity.
