HAWTIN PLC ("Hawtin" or "the Company")

Hawtin PLC today received notification from Aberdeen Asset Managers dated 27
August 2003 that following the recent reconstruction of Smaller Companies
Investment Trust PLC, their holding registered in the name of State Street
Nominees Ltd, no longer has a notifiable interest in the ordinary share capital
of Hawtin.
