In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.2% in morning trading. Orpea added 13.2% and Samhaellsbyggnadsbolaget climbed 6.7%. On the other hand, Kindred Group SDR dropped 8%, and Aroundtown fell 7.6%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.4%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.2% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.4%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 97.44.

In commodities, Brent crude was flat at $81.43 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 0.1% to $76.46 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield fell by 3 basis points to 2.463% from 2.497%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury declined by 3 basis points to 4.294% from 4.325%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were down as Japan's Nikkei 225 index declined 0.3%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 2.1%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite fell 0.6%.
