The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.1% to 95.91.

In commodities, Brent crude gained 1.5% to $78.16 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 1.3% to $72.57 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 8 basis points to 2.09% from 2.009%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 6 basis points to 3.939% from 3.881%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were down. Markets in Japan were closed. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 1.5%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite fell 0.4%.
