IT executives who are seeking answers to security questions
about cloud computing will have the opportunity to learn all the
details about cloud security from experts at Acxiom® Corporation
(NASDAQ: ACXM) and CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA), during CA World
2010, a global gathering of CA Technologies’ customers, partners,
executives and IT leaders.
Cloud computing allows companies to deploy services on demand
without the capital investment required by more traditional
alternatives. However, that often means that personal and
business-confidential data is communicated, stored and processed on
external systems owned by other companies having their own security
risk management policies and controls.
“Data privacy and security risks have always represented
increasingly serious business management issues,” said Chuck
Howland, Acxiom vice president for information technology. “But
these risks become more complex in the move to cloud
computing.”
Howland and Tim Brown, CA Technologies chief security architect
and distinguished engineer, will deliver an insightful presentation
on ”Cloud Computing: Privacy and Security Issues.” In this
presentation they will explain how confidentiality, data integrity
and availability – the core components of information security –
must now be managed with great care by multiple organizations, even
as the primary company still bears primary visibility and
responsibility for ensuring the privacy and security of sensitive
information.
“Cloud computing imposes novel requirements for assessing and
managing risk, as well as enhanced governance and more finely
calibrated security management policies and practices,” Howland
said. “At the very least, most businesses are dealing with growing
data storage challenges. We want to help business leaders
understand the most economic way to move into cloud computing,
while finding the right combination of security and privacy
controls.”
In a session entitled “Breaking the Barriers to Cloud Computing
Adoption: Service Provider Perspectives,” John Costanza, Acxiom
vice president for product management, will explain how leading
service providers such as Acxiom see cloud computing adapting to
the business needs of their clients and how technology is maturing
to address the technical challenges.
Other sessions include:
- “Next Generation Information
Governance in the Cloud,” led by Todd Barron, Acxiom product
manager.
- “Building More Effective and
Agile Organizations,” led by David Guzman, Acxiom CIO.
- “Security Implications of Going
Virtual – What Can You Do,” led by Ryan LaMirand, Acxiom Senior
Manager, Product Management.
- “Achieving High Availability,
High-Volume Web Services,” led by Luke Lofgren, Acxiom system
engineer and architect.
