Engineered Support Receives $10.6 Million Contract From U.S. Army
ST. LOUIS, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Engineered Support
Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:EASI) has received a $10.6 million,
firm-fixed price contract for the supply of 452 repackaged truck
diesel engines to the U.S. Army Tank- automotive and Armaments
Command in Warren, Michigan. This urgent requirement will be
performed by the Company's Fermont subsidiary located in
Bridgeport, Connecticut. The engines will be used to support the
Army's Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), according to
Gerald A. Potthoff, Vice Chairman, CEO and President of Engineered
Support. The new contract involves purchasing vehicle engines,
adding controls, hydraulic lines and other dressing. The engines
will then be preserved and placed in individual shipping containers
for their later use by the Army. Fermont will complete this
contract by January 2006. Potthoff commented, "Fermont has received
similar contracts as this in the past and has performed very well
on those projects. This demonstrates their versatility in handling
various types of defense programs, and an expansion of its position
as the leading supplier of military generator sets. Fermont will
continue in its efforts to capitalize on an increasing number of
emerging opportunities in military markets." Engineered Support
