Pinnacle Systems and CNN Complete First Two Phases of Vortex News

video solutions, and CNN LP, LLLP, a subsidiary of Time Warner,
Inc. (NYSE:TWX), today announced that the first two phases of the
installation of Pinnacle's Vortex news system at two CNN locations
have been completed. A revised third phase of the project enlarging
the facilities and providing some integration options for CNN is
scheduled for completion in January 2006. Pinnacle's Vortex system
is located at the CNN Center in Atlanta and the Time Warner Center
at Columbus Circle in New York. The Vortex system has been on-air
continuously in Atlanta since November 2003 and New York since
April 2004. "We are very proud to provide a consistently dependable

this third phase." Pinnacle and CNN are building a large-scale,
fault-tolerant, end-to-end news production solution that will allow
CNN to stay ahead of news industry demands by migrating to a
data-centric, tapeless workflow for the majority of daily
production in New York and Atlanta. The system will also support
and allow users to manage file-based media movement within and
between the New York and Atlanta facilities over a wide area
network. Upon completion of the third phase, the overall system
will consist of 105 Pinnacle Vortex Input/Output devices for ingest
of field video, ENG and SNG feeds, as well as play-to-air channels.
The system core is comprised of: 34 Liquid Blue Editors, 150 Proxy
browse and edit clients in New York, 35 proxy edit clients in
Atlanta, and more than 2700 hours of redundant on-line storage of
