Simtek Readies 4 and 8 Megabit Devices for Production
16 February 2008 - 5:01AM
Business Wire
Simtek Corporation (NASDAQ: SMTK), the inventor, pioneer, and
worlds leading supplier of nonvolatile static random access memory
(nvSRAM) integrated circuits, today announced that it has completed
design of the production version of its flagship 4 and 8 megabit
families of nvSRAMs designed in a 130 nanometer SONOS process. The
Company released the design to prepare for production on Wednesday,
February 13th. Achieving this important milestone is the
culmination of extensive process development, product design,
debug, and verification, said Andy Broom, Simtek vice president of
Engineering. We are confident that we can ship production
qualified units to customers of both our 4 megabit and 8 megabit
families from this release. We started beta sampling the 4
megabit last June. To date, weve had approximately 40 requests for
samples and have identified additional opportunities interested in
production samples. Some of our early customer programs are now
nearing completion and are waiting for production qualified parts
to complete system validation and begin ramping into production,
said Grant Hulse, Simtek vice president of Marketing. If all goes
well over the next few months we could be ready to deliver fully
qualified product to customers as early as the middle of the year.
Its still too early to tell how quickly some of these programs may
ramp into production, however we are excited to be ready to start
volume production in the near future. The Company plans to qualify
both the 4 megabit and 8 megabit nvSRAMs from this version of the
design. Later in the year, the Company anticipates readying for
production the real-time-clock versions of both devices as well as
speed enhanced versions of other memory densities. Larger memories,
added features, and higher speed versions should enable the Company
to serve new markets previously unavailable. About Simtek
