Symmetricom to Present at 2011 Telcordia NIST/WSTS Synchronization Workshop
06 May 2011 - 3:33AM
Business Wire
Symmetricom®, Inc. (NASDAQ:SYMM), a worldwide leader in
precision time and frequency technologies, today announced that the
company is presenting at the 2011 Telcordia NIST-ATIS Workshop on
Synchronization in Telecommunication Systems (NIST/WSTS), May
10-12, 2011 in Westminster, Colorado. Sponsored by NIST, Telcordia
and ATIS-COAST, the 20th WSTS provides a forum for high-level
discussion and knowledge sharing with synchronization experts.
WHO:
Timing/Synchronization Experts from
Symmetricom
WHAT:
2011 Telcordia NIST-ATIS Workshop on Synchronization in
Telecommunication Systems (NIST/WSTS ‘11)
WHEN:
Tuesday, May 10 – Thursday, May 12, 2011
WHERE:
Westin Hotel, 10600 Westminster Boulevard,Westminster, Colorado
Symmetricom is pleased to present the keynote presentation:
- The State of the Industry by James
Armstrong, Executive VP & GM, Communications Business Unit
Symmetricom timing experts will be presenting on the following
topics:
- Achievable Time Performance over G.8261
Networks without On-Path Support by George Zampetti, Chief
Scientist
- Packet Network Time Transport
Measurement Analysis by Lee Cosart, Senior Technologist
- Emerging Atomic Clock Technology by
Robert Lutwak, Chief Scientist
The implementation challenges that face both network operators
and equipment manufacturers are the main focus of the workshop.
With the convergence of voice and data over Ethernet networks,
synchronization requirements have become more stringent. Network
planners need to define time-of-day, frequency and phase to support
next generation network requirements. The workshop will also
address the existing and proposed standards in these three
dimensions of synchronization and timing.
Symmetricom will also be exhibiting at NIST/WSTS, featuring the
TimeProvider® 1500 Packet Primary Reference Source (PRS) and
TimeProvider® 5000 IEEE 1588-2008 Stratum 1 Grandmaster Clock.

About NIST
NIST, an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, was founded
in 1901 as the nation's first federal physical science research
laboratory. Over the years, the scientists and technical staff at
NIST have made solid contributions to image processing, DNA
diagnostic "chips," smoke detectors, and automated error-correcting
software for machine tools. Just a few of the other areas in which
NIST has had major impact include atomic clocks, X-ray standards
for mammography, scanning tunneling microscopy, pollution-control
technology, and high-speed dental drills. We invite you to explore
our web site to learn about our current projects, to find out how
you can work with us, or to make use of our products and services.
