Lighting technology supports dynamic style and function VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As a high-performing luxury roadster, the acclaimed Cadillac XLR's advanced design enables drivers to carve up twisty roads with great pleasure and comfort -- even at night. Now, with new lighting technology from Visteon Corporation (NYSE:VC), this roadster's headlamps are also high-performance. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20001201/DEF008LOGO ) The 2006 Cadillac XLR, with Visteon's Advanced Front Lighting System, adapts the headlamp beam to better illuminate the car's path using a bi-functional High Intensity Discharge Advanced Front Lighting System. This bi-functional system delivers both high- and low-beam illumination from a single projector module. Visteon's advanced lighting system recognizes the driver's steering wheel position and moves the light pattern accordingly. Moving the light with the vehicle's intended direction helps extend driver visibility, even in curves. Visteon has developed intelligent and unique software algorithms that enable headlamps to integrate seamlessly with the car's advanced electronics. The beams can swivel based on inputs from steering wheel and vehicle speed to precisely tailor the lighting pattern for the vehicle's approach to the road configurations. Both left and right headlamps swivel up to 15 degrees outboard and five degrees inboard -- Visteon leads the industry with this combination of swivel ranges. This higher range is a major distinction for the Visteon/Cadillac system.
