Visteon Continues Expansion in Asia Pacific Region SHANGHAI, China, June 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Visteon Corporation (NYSE:VC), one of the world's leading automotive suppliers, continues to grow its presence in China and the Asia Pacific region with the recent groundbreaking for its YanFeng Visteon Technical Facility and the opening of its Asia Pacific corporate office. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20001201/DEF008LOGO ) These two new facilities in China will further support Visteon's expanding business in the region. In 2003, Visteon recorded $1.5 billion in sales for Asia Pacific -- an increase of approximately 25 percent from 2002 revenue of $1.2 billion in the region. "Vehicle manufacturers in need of supplier partners in Asia Pacific with broad technological expertise and global capabilities are increasingly turning to Visteon," said Robert Pallash, Visteon's vice president for Asia Pacific and Asian original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers. "Through our network of joint ventures and subsidiaries in the region, we are demonstrating our ability to provide customers with quality, value-added systems, modules and components -- as well as strategic engineering, manufacturing and logistics support." For more than 10 years, Visteon has been growing its presence in Asia Pacific. Today, Visteon operates more than 20 manufacturing facilities in the region located throughout China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines and India, serving a variety of global and regional automakers. Visteon is a leader in delivering climate, interior and electronics components and systems to customers in what has become the fastest-growing automotive market in the world. "One of Visteon's most notable advantages is that we have a great foundation on which to continue building," said Pallash. "Our experience and breadth of resources in China, and throughout the region, position us to meet the challenges of interfacing with many different customers with a wide range of requirements." In addition to China, Visteon has manufacturing facilities, engineering centers and business offices in India, Japan, Korea and Thailand. "Our business strategy is aligned country-by-country to ensure that we identify and respond to all the opportunities that are regularly emerging on a regional basis," Pallash added. "We're confident in our progress so far, but not satisfied -- and certainly excited about future opportunities in this region." Asia Pacific Corporate Office Visteon opened its new Asia Pacific Corporate Office in fall 2003. The office is located at the Shanghai Maxdo Center in Shanghai. Visteon's regional leadership team is based at the facility, with responsibility for the company's Asia Pacific operations. The team is supported by technical, sourcing and commercial customer support personnel. Product development staff is currently located in the new corporate office, but will relocate to the new YanFeng Visteon Technical Center after it opens in autumn 2005. "We specifically selected Shanghai as our regional corporate office because of its growing importance as a significant automotive hub," said Pallash. "As a customer-facing organization, Visteon is committed to serving its customers, and this location will help us meet our evolving customer needs in this rapidly expanding region." New YanFeng Visteon Technical Center The new YanFeng Visteon Technical Center, a cooperation with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), will be located in Cao He Jing, Shanghai, China. It is strategically located to better serve the growing needs of the Chinese automotive market. The technical center will serve as Visteon's engineering hub for the region and is scheduled to be fully functional by October 2005. Once opened, the center will house Visteon engineers and support staff, along with engineers from YanFeng Visteon (YFV), a 50-50 joint venture with SAIC. The center will develop components and systems needed to support not only local customers, but customers all over the globe.
