Visteon's TACNET(TM) Forges Additional Technical Alliances
Delivering Increased Capability VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich., Nov. 12
/PRNewswire/ -- Visteon Corporation (NYSE:VC) continues to grow the
TACNET(TM) Alliance by forging business/technology relationships
with companies currently serving the law enforcement community. The
most recent alliances were forged with D&R Electronics Company
Ltd., Whelen Engineering, and Decatur Electronics. TACNET is an
in-vehicle command and control system designed to improve officer
efficiency and interoperability while dramatically reducing police
car interior clutter. (Logo:

pleased to have D&R, Whelen and Decatur join our other alliance
members to provide additional capability for the TACNET system,"
said Greg Gyllstrom, Visteon's vice president and general manager
aftermarket and glass North American operations. "The technology
alliance is now 11 companies strong, offering law enforcement
agencies the opportunity to use the products with which they are
most familiar, integrated into an easy to use command and control
system." Current alliance members include BIO-key International,
Code 3, Federal Signal, Kenwood, Kustom Signals, M/A-COM, PADCOM,
and Pyramid Communications. In addition, Visteon is working with
Motorola's SB9600 Radio protocol. The technology alliances make
TACNET compatible with a variety of emergency lights, video, radar
and mobile data computing products. Visteon applied its engineering
and vehicle systems expertise to provide an integrated solution
delivering interoperability, reduced clutter and improved officer
efficiency. The technology alliances with these leading law
enforcement industry suppliers offer an integrated system that
works with the equipment a police agency already is using. For
example, the TACNET system is compatible with a variety of
lightbars and radios that are used by police agencies today.
Furthermore, these relationships help ensure that as technology
evolves, Visteon will be well positioned to make TACNET compatible
with tomorrow's in- vehicle law enforcement equipment. In addition
to working with leading law enforcement suppliers, Visteon
collaborated with several police agencies including California
Highway Patrol, Michigan State Police, Maryland State Police and
Boston Police Department -- all of which provided valuable officer
field test feedback. Visteon Corporation is a leading full-service
supplier that delivers consumer-driven technology solutions to
automotive manufacturers worldwide and through multiple channels
within the global automotive aftermarket. Visteon has about 72,000
employees and a global delivery system of more than 200 technical,
manufacturing, sales, and service facilities located in 25
countries. http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20001201/DEF008LOGO
