Business Wire
Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (NYSE: ACS) is helping the
California Highway Patrol (CHP) improve emergency response time and
officer safety with the implementation of a state-of-the-art
computer-aided dispatch (CAD) solution. ACS is providing the system
under a contract with a potential nine-year term, consisting of a
five-year base and four one-year options, and is valued at $53
million if all options are exercised.
The CAD solution will provide dispatchers with accurate,
real-time information to assign incidents to the appropriate first
responder and enhance communications between CHP and other public
safety agencies. ACS will provide CHP with software, hardware,
systems integration, and training and maintenance services.
“ACS’ solution will help CHP improve emergency communications,
coordination and resource utilization, and ensure scalability for
growth, said Joseph Doherty, executive vice president and group
president, ACS Government Solutions. “This is another example of
ACS’ ability to deliver solutions critical to helping agencies
provide better service.”
ACS has partnered with TriTech Systems of San Diego to provide
the system to CHP, which will support approximately 7,300 uniformed
and 3,200 civilian personnel, including more than one-thousand 911
call-takers and dispatchers. Implementation of the solution is
expected in January 2012.
ACS Solutions for Public Safety and Justice also include
FireHouse® records and mobile systems for state and local agencies’
fire and EMS applications, and AgileCourt® court management
solutions in support of criminal justice systems nationwide.
