KBR (NYSE: KBR) today announced that it has been awarded a
contract by The Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy of the
Republic of Equatorial Guinea to provide a Conceptual Study and
associated Project Management Services for the development of a low

in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, West Africa.
The aim of the refinery is to meet the local fuel demand of the
Republic of Equatorial Guinea and marks the first step away from
the country’s dependency on imported fuel to meet local demand.
“KBR is proud that the Republic of Equatorial Guinea has chosen
to work with KBR on this project,” said John Quinn, President, KBR
Downstream. “KBR will employ its significant experience in

establishing a refining industry in the country.”
“The Mbini refinery project is of strategic importance for the
Republic of Equatorial Guinea both politically and economically as
it will eliminate the country’s dependency on imported oil
derivatives. The Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy is
confident in KBR’s experience and professionalism. We are also
confident KBR will deliver a refinery design that meets the
