Piper Jaffray Hires Gus Richard to Expand Technology and Semiconductor Research Expertise

PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Piper Jaffray
announced it has hired Gus Richard to join its investment research
team to enhance the firm's coverage of the semiconductor and
emerging technology industries. He will be based in the firm's Palo
Alto office. Richard has 10 years of experience working in the
semiconductor industry and 12 years of experience on Wall Street.
Most recently, he was a managing director at Broadpoint Capital
(formerly First Albany Capital) where he expanded the firm's
technology coverage into semiconductors and semiconductor
manufacturing technology. In addition, Richard covered enabling
technology such as intellectual property, flat panel displays and
robotics. Prior to First Albany, Richard was a portfolio manager
and technology analyst for EGM Capital and a senior analyst for
Hambrecht & Quist in San Francisco. In 1998, he was selected as
an "All-Star Analyst" by the Wall Street Journal. "Gus has a proven
track record of identifying market trends and forecasting
technology shifts," says Joel Denney, head of investment research
at Piper Jaffray. "With his in-depth understanding of technology
companies and unique combination of business, finance, marketing
and technology skills, he will be a key member of the Piper Jaffray
technology research team." Richard holds a bachelor's degree in
physics from the Rochester Institute of Technology and earned a
