MANASSASS, Virginia,
April 21, 2010 /PRNewswire/ --
Following their successful involvement with the CARIFTA games with
the AAAB team (Barbados), a
prelude to the 2012 Olympics, 8000inc through its new subsidiary
8000inc Racing is excited to announce that it is backing
international racing driver Brent
Gilkes in the highly competitive F2000 Championship Series.
This is the planned stepping stone to the Formula One circuit. This
international race series which runs at tracks throughout the US
and Canada and supports the Indy
Cars at the world famous Watkins
Glen circuit in New York in
July, boasts the highest entry numbers of any open wheel series in
North America. The drivers who
come from as far afield as Australia and Brazil to compete are a mixture of young
drivers striving to make a career in the top echelons of the sport
and veterans who have excelled at the national level and want to
race in a seriously challenging professional level series. 8000inc
Racing has been established with goals that start with F2000 in
2010 but then advancing into either Formula Mazda or British
Formula 3 in 2011/2012 and ultimately targeting the higher echelons
of open wheel racing of Formula 1 either as a team or main
sponsor.
Thomas Kelly CEO of 8000inc said "Obviously I am thrilled that
Lap 2 Racing which has been one of the smaller teams in the series,
approached 8000Inc. The opportunities discussed will open up a new
marketing and publicity avenue for the Group and will allow 8000inc
to realize its targets of a presence at the highest levels now in
Motor Sport complimenting its positions in Athletics and Cricket. I
am confident that our support will help significantly. This support
will allow us to upgrade the aerodynamic package, use new tyres
each weekend and have an engineer from Vallis Motorsport at most
races working on the car. At VIR I think we showed the potential,
running as high as second in the Masters Class in Race 1, before
tangling with another car 2 laps from the end while fighting for
3rd. Now it is a case of building from that and we look forward to
debuting the new car in its complete new livery at Mosport. In 2011
8000Inc Racing plan will be to have 2 professional drivers, in a
series above F2000, we will continue racing in a similar capacity
as today and to target top young drivers into 8000Inc Racing's
program. It would be tremendous if one of those drivers could come
from Barbados and 8000Inc Racing
is already looking further into the future with their support of 2
young local karters.
