PARIS--French retailer Carrefour SA (CA.FR) Friday said it has
signed a final agreement to buy 127 malls from French real-estate
firm Klepierre SA (LI.FR).
Carrefour said in December that it would spend 2 billion euros
($2.75 billion) to buy shopping malls adjacent to its supermarkets
in France, Italy and Spain. It plans to create a new real-estate
holding company, grouping its new properties with 45 malls it
already owns in France.
Carrefour said the transaction--which is still subject to
antitrust approval--is expected to close in the first half of the
year.
