SSEN Transmission, a subsidiary of SSE PLC, said Wednesday that it has issued a green bond worth 500 million pounds ($694.7 million).

The FTSE 100 energy company said the bond is issued in two equal tranches maturing in seven and 15 years at coupons of 1.5% and 2.125%, respectively.

The company said the proceeds will be used to fund part of SSEN Transmission's investments in transmission-network infrastructure.

"By financing this investment through green bonds and--potentially in the future--sustainability-linked bonds, we are helping to attract more capital into initiatives that will drive progress toward net zero while holding ourselves to account on wider sustainability efforts," SSE Finance Director Gregor Alexander said.
