SSE PLC and Acciona SA said Tuesday that they have agreed to form a 50/50 joint venture to explore offshore wind opportunities in Poland.

The two energy companies, which already have a similar agreement for Spain and Portugal, said they have signed a memorandum of understanding to formalize the joint venture.

Poland is seeking to deploy around 6 gigawatts of offshore wind by the end of the decade and has a target of generating at least 23% of gross energy consumption from renewable sources by 2030, SSE said.
