           Cable & Wireless PLC: Increased Share Weighting
                       Changes in FTSE Indexes

Following today's announcement that the listing of new shares, in
connection with the recent acquisition of Cable & Wireless
Communications PLC, is due to commence 31 May 2000, FTSE announces the
following changes:
