NEC launches first SoundVu laptop
NXT, the British speech and audio company, announced today that its licensee,
NEC, has launched the world's first SoundVu enabled laptop. This is the first
time the completely transparent, ultra-thin SoundVu loudspeaker has been
incorporated within a laptop, allowing perfect synchronicity of sound and moving
image and removing the need for conventional speakers.
The laptop model, the 'LS900/8E', is part of the new 'La Vie S' series and has a
3D LCD screen as well as SoundVu and will be on sale in Japan from 29 January
2004 .
In addition to launching the new laptop, NEC have now incorporated SoundVu
technology into more than 70% of models in its 'Valuestar' range of desktop PCs.
This includes the new 'Valuestar T', which is also launched in Japan this
month, with a 23 inch LCD SoundVu display, including a sub woofer, and a
built-in terrestrial digital TV receiver.
David Pearson, CEO of NXT said: "When NEC announced in June 2003 that they had
developed a SoundVu enabled laptop, they indicated it could take up to two years
to come to the market. We are delighted they have achieved this in six months.
NEC's widespread adoption of our technology demonstrates the commercial
advantage Sound Vu gives as well as its capacity to be integrated within
existing product types. "
