Sale of the Coast retail operation

The Board of Leslie Wise Group P.L.C. announces that agreement has been
reached to dispose of the Coast retail operation ('Coast'), together with
associated Coast trade marks, to Oasis Stores Plc.  Coast is a young fashion
retailing company comprising 35 outlets trading primarily on a concession
basis with leading department stores.

The business is being sold for a total cash consideration of approximately
#800,000, which will be applied to reduce group borrowings. The net value of
the assets sold amounts to approximately #550,000.

Coast produced a total loss of #288,000 for the year to 30 November 1997.
