VT GROUP SECURES #100M ARMY TRAINING CONTRACTS
EXTENSION

VT Group, the Support Services and Shipbuilding company, has consolidated its
position as one of the UK's leading suppliers of military training by extending
its two contracts to train the British Army's mechanical and electrical
engineers.

The three year extensions, with options for MOD to extend for up to two further
years, are worth nearly #100m in total and take effect from early 2004.

VT started its training activities at the Bordon and Arborfield garrisons of the
Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) Training Group in
1998. Training at the garrisons is now provided to over 5000 soldiers and
civilians a year at all levels up to degree standard.

These extensions will be a prelude to the introduction of the tri-service
Defence Training Review (DTR) where VT, which is also a leading provider of
training services for the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, is hoping to play a
significant part.

VT Group Chief Executive Paul Lester commented: "Our partnership with the Army
has led to considerable improvements in training output and that has been
reflected in the extension of the contract. We are now established as one of the
Armed Forces' major providers of technical training and are well placed to
secure new business under the DTR initiative."
