RS and 15000 Product Lines Among First to Achieve Official
Recognition by Metro Ethernet Forum SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 13
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Riverstone Networks (OTC:RSTN.PK), a
leader in carrier Ethernet solutions, today announced that the
services provided by its RS and Riverstone 15008 Ethernet routers
have been certified by Iometrix, the industry's preeminent testing
authority, as being able to successfully support three key carrier
Ethernet service types as specified by the Metro Ethernet Forum
(MEF): Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line and
E-LAN/VPLS. To prove compliance, Riverstone had to test the
services of each of its carrier Ethernet routers twice in a series
of 190 tests, passing each test both times. Riverstone scored 100
percent on all 190 mandatory tests as well as on almost all of the
optional cases. The certification program, conducted by the
MEF-endorsed lab Iometrix, is intended to reduce the need for
service providers to design and run equipment tests in their own
labs, saving both them and their vendors time and money and,
ultimately, accelerating Ethernet deployments. "The certification
process promotes the advancement of Ethernet as a full fledged
carrier technology," said Bob Manderville, President of Iometrix.
"It provides legitimacy to the vendors, such as Riverstone, who
successfully complete it as well as to the providers deploying
Ethernet services using these vendors' solutions." "It is one thing
to deliver carrier Ethernet services successfully, but it is quite
another to deliver carrier Ethernet services successfully across a
range of platforms, big and small, all of which have the same
functionality and feature set," said James Domine, Vice President,
Product Management, Riverstone Networks. "As this certification
shows, we've successfully done just that. The wealth of experience
we've gained working with service providers over the past several
years has consistently been applied to the R&D of both new and
existing products. This allows us to deliver Ethernet solutions
that really are up to the task of enabling carrier-grade
residential and business services." The MEF announced the full
results of the certification process today at the IIR Carrier
Ethernet World Congress, which is taking place in Berlin, Germany
through September 16. In addition to exhibiting at the show,
Riverstone will participate in a multi-vendor interoperability
demonstration organized by the European Advanced Networking Test
Center (EANTC) and sponsored by the MEF. The event will feature the
five Metro Ethernet attributes defined by the MEF (Scalability,
Protection, QoS, Service Management and TDM support) delivered over
a network comprised of carrier Ethernet equipment from 12 vendors
spanning the network core to the edge. Riverstone Networks, Inc.
(RSTN.PK) is a leading provider of carrier Ethernet infrastructure
