Toys "R" Us Inc. has eliminated the job that heads up its global
sourcing and product development, terminating Ron Boire's
employment as a result.
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission late
Wednesday, the company said Boire, who was president of "R" Us
Brands, was terminated Tuesday without cause. He was also executive
vice president at the company.
Through a company representative, Boire declined to comment, and
the representative said the retailer also would not comment beyond
the SEC filing.
Boire joined Toys "R" Us in 2006 as head of the retailer's U.S.
operations and was named to his most recent post in February. He
was Best Buy Co.'s (BBY) global merchandise manager before joining
Toys "R" Us.
Based in Wayne, N.J., Toys "R" Us has 1,550 Toys "R" Us and
Babies "R" Us stores, including 847 in the U.S.
