CORT, the nation’s leading provider of furniture rental and destination services, is proud to announce that CORT’s IT department has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification. This globally recognized certification, awarded by the International Standards Organization, signifies that CORT takes the protection of clients' information seriously. In line with their commitment to the highest standards, CORT anticipates updating their certification to the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard in September.

ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is a standard for information security management systems, first published in October 2013. It is awarded to organizations that meet specific criteria in terms of the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of information.

CORT's Information Security Management System (ISMS) has not only met these stringent criteria but has also received third-party accreditation from the International Standards Organization. This is a testament to the robust technical controls CORT has in place and the formalized IT Security policies and procedures it follows.

"Securing the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification is not just an achievement for us, but a promise to our clients,” shared Bryce Sheridan, CORT Vice President of IT Operation. “It's our commitment to safeguard their information using the highest international standards. This certification underscores our unwavering dedication to information security and continues to place us at the forefront of our industry."

The certification process was conducted by A-LIGN, an independent, third-party auditor. A-LIGN, accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to perform ISMS 27001 certifications, found CORT to have implemented several security measures and countermeasures that protect it from unauthorized access or compromise. Additionally, CORT's IT personnel were recognized for their conscientiousness and knowledge in best practices.

This certification is limited to the ISMS supported by CORT’s information technology department and extends to the external and internal-facing applications managed by the same department. This includes CORT’s IT personnel, systems, policies, procedures, standards, tools, utilities, and data used in business operations, as well as the design, development, testing, and support of external and internal-facing applications.

The ISO 27001:2013 certification confirms that CORT’s security management program is comprehensive, adheres to leading practices, and underscores CORT's ongoing commitment to information security.
