MARKET COMMENT: NZX-50 Ends +0.4% Helped By Australia
05 March 2013 - 4:41PM
Dow Jones News
0510 GMT [Dow Jones] The NZX-50 finishes 0.4% or 16 points
higher at 4269.16, tracking the Australian market's gains when
local sentiment was helped by stronger-than-expected Aussie data.
Sky Television (SKT.NZ) sheds 2.9% to NZ$5.02 after coming off a
trading halt after News Corp. (NWS.AU) sold its 44% stake in the
company. The share held up fairly well as some investors sought it
ahead of it going ex-dividend Wednesday. News Corp. owns Dow Jones
& Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal and this newswire.
The government recently said that its plan to sell nearly half its
stake in state-owned Mighty River Power Ltd. has generated strong
early interest in the domestic market. (rebecca.howard@wsj.com)
